Albinism is caused by lack of enzymes in melanin leading to pigment deficiency. The recessive gene is mostly inherited and affects all vertebrates. This condition makes it hard for wild animals to survive since it makes them an easy target as they lose their natural camouflage. They also lose protection from harmful UV rays, develop sensitive eyes, and are in risk of skin cancer.
