Ginger is an herb which is also known as rhizome. Most of the people think that it is a root as it is derived from underground but actually it is a stem. It belongs to Zingiberaceae group of plants which consist of galangal, cardamom and turmeric. This herb is rich in minerals and vitamins like magnesium and vitamin C. Antioxidants fight free radicals which can cause cancer in the body.
